Supporting social enterprise

Open Sky Mulch

Open Sky’s Norm Hunter looking rugged together with our own Rory Fraser, knee deep in today’s delivery of mulch for their gardens.

Open Sky Co-operative provides home, vocational assistance and a caring community for adults who require supports to improve their quality of life. They are a charitable co-operative social enterprise, made up of many different people and organizations.

Woodpecker Tree Care has been supporting Open Sky for a number of years by donating wood mulch for use in their greenhouse and field operations. The mulch, a byproduct of tree-trimming and removals, is used for weed control and soil improvement. It’s a pleasure for us to be a small part of the wonderful work Open Sky is doing.

Open Sky is located on an 11-acre farm in Middle Sackville, not far from Silver Lake Park and the Trans-Canada Trail, and is within walking distance of downtown Sackville, as well as Mount Allison University. Open Sky has a 5-bedroom house, horse barn, henhouse, greenhouses and many acres of lawns, gardens and pasture.
